Failure to receive a tax or utility bill does NOT waive penalties or interest as property owners are ultimately responsible for making payments.
If a mortgage/servicing company requested a copy of your tax bill, the Mort Code: field in the upper right portion of the bill will be populated and the message: “A COPY OF THIS BILL HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO YOUR MORTGAGE COMPANY” will be printed on the face of the bill. Please contact your mortgage company directly if you need further information.

Drop Box Payments: Personal checks, personal money orders and cashier checks must be deposited in the Treasurer’s drop box outside slot in the front exterior wall of Augusta Charter Township Hall (address above).
Checks are accepted as conditional payment only; if a check is not honored by the bank, the bill is unpaid and subject to interest, penalties and bank charges.
Please identify your payment by including your utility account number or property tax ID (depending on which payment you are making) along with your name and address. To ensure that your funds are applied as you intended, utility checks should only list the utility billing account number while property tax checks should only list the Tax ID# being paid to avoid confusion.
If you are paying both utility and tax payments, then please include a separate check for each one as the funds are deposited into different bank accounts.

Please allow enough time if sending payments via US Postal Service, because we do not accept postmarks.
Automated Clearing House (ACH) Payment Program
With our FREE Automatic Bill Payment Program, you can have your Water and/or Sewer Bill automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the due date. Just complete and sign this form (below) to get started!
Please attach a voided check if you plan to pay with your checking account and include them in an envelope, which you may deposit into the Treasurer’s drop box or mail.
Please complete and return it to the township hall by the first day of the month in which you want deductions to start
Please complete an application for each water and/or sewer account you intend to pay using ACH. Once enrolled in the program, you will still receive your statement via US Postal Service indicating the balance due will be withdrawn from your bank account on the due date.
If Augusta Charter Township’s bank is unable to debit your bank account for the amount due because of non-sufficient funds (NSF), then the Township will charge your water and/or sewer account an NSF FEE. You will be responsible for all penalties accrued on the account. If the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, the ACH withdrawal will occur on the next business day.
Online payments may be made by either electronic check or credit card: Electronic Check: $3.00 Flat Fee, or Credit Card: 3% with $1.50 minimum
Every property owner is sent a tax notice via US Postal Service to the address on file with the township assessor.
Township Treasurer Tax Responsibilities
Michigan township treasurers are responsible for collecting taxes on behalf of their own and other governmental units. The purposes and entities for which Augusta Charter Township collects are listed on the tax bill in the description column.
The amount of tax due is calculated using the Taxable Value of Real (land and attachments to land) or Personal (possessions not attached to land) Property and the millage rates, as shown on the tax bill.
If no millage rate is listed next to a description, then that amount due is for a Special Assessment or other charges added to the bill – examples of Special Assessments are County drains, sewer and lighting districts within the Township and examples of other charges are delinquent water bills.
First Time Users (please read this first)
As a first-time user, click the “Utility Billing Search” link at the left of the web-page using your last name to locate your records. You will be instructed to create a free login account that allows you to review your own accounts. Please keep your User Name and Password for your records.
After finding your utility billing records and creating your account, you should be presented with a link “Pay Online”. You willONLYbe able to make an online payment if you owe money, for this reason no link is available if you don’t currently owe money.
Before clicking “Pay Online”, you may edit the amount next to “Make Online Payment”. After clicking on the “Pay Online” link, the system will transfer you to our processor Point & Pay to make the payment either by Electronic Check or by Credit Card.
The appropriate convenience fee will be automatically added to your transaction as you proceed through the checkout.
Contact the Augusta Charter Township Treasurer’s Office for additional information.
If the Point & Pay online payment system is not working, you are still responsible to pay your bills on time. No penalties will be waived.
