IMPORTANT: Every property owner is sent a tax notice via US Postal Service to the address on file with the Township Assessor. Failure to receive a tax or utility bill does NOT waive penalties or interest as property owners are ultimately responsible for making payments. Treasurer is not responsible for payments made on incorrect parcels. If our processor Point & Pay’s online payment system is not working, you are still responsible to pay your bills on time. No penalties will be waived.
Checks are accepted as conditional payment only; if a check is not honored by the bank, the bill is unpaid and subject to interest, penalties, and bank charges. Utility payments that are paid by ACH will also be subject to bank charges if not honored by the bank.
Cash payments in person require exact cash/coin amount given to the cashier.
Tax payments can be made by escrow payments made by mortgage providers. A copy of the tax bill will be sent to the property owner. A mort code will be populated in the upper right portion of the bill. Your bill will state, “A copy of this bill has been forwarded to your mortgage company” and will require no action from you. Please contact your mortgage company directly for further questions or information.
If you are paying both utility and tax payments, please include a separate check for each account.
CASH – Cash payments are only accepted inside the hall and given to the cashier. We request exact amount in payment. We do not accept non-US coins. You will be given a receipt.
CHECK/MONEY ORDER/CASHIER CHECK – Checks should be submitted with property tax ID or utility account number. Checks should be made out to: Augusta Charter Township and deposited into the Treasurer’s drop box outside slot located on the front exterior wall of the Augusta Charter Township Hall. Receipts provided by mail upon request.
MAIL – Checks, money orders or cashier’s checks can be mailed to Augusta Charter Township, PO Box 100, Whittaker, MI 48190-0100. Please allow enough time for payment as we do not accept postmarks.
DROP BOX – Checks, money orders or cashiers’ checks must be deposited into the Treasurer’s drop box outside slot located on the front exterior wall of the Augusta Charter Township Hall.
ONLINE – Our processor, Point & Pay, will allow you to make payments by either electronic check or credit card. A transaction fees will be charged and automatically added to the payment in the checkout process.
ACH – We offer free ACH bill processing for utility payments. The billed amount will be automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the due date.
Please return completed application to the Township Hall either by US mail or Treasurer’s dropbox by the first day of the month in which you want deductions to start. You will still receive a utility bill stating that your payment will be made through the ACH process and no further action is required.
